“Creating art is good for the soul!” say local husband and wife team Joel Adas and Helen Selsdon who recently opened an art school called The Colorful Palette at 1640 Bayshore Road in Villas.
With their mantra “Art for All,” Adas and Selsdon strive to make their art classes fun, rigorous, and accessible. Students are guided through the use of oil and tempera paint, pencil, charcoal, and mixed media as they discover the amazing paths that the creative process can take. Artists are encouraged to explore their imaginations as well as the world around them.
Lessons are drawn from the rich history that art has to offer (and a plentiful art library). Adas has taught art for over 30 years, first as a young art school graduate in his hometown of Highland Park, NJ, and more recently, in New York City and now Sea Isle City and Cape May. Selsdon trained at the Camberwell School of Art in her hometown of London, England. In 2019, they joined forces to teach side-by-side.
