NORTH CAPE MAY – Lower Township is continuing to make progress on the renovation of community parks with the completion of the public restroom facility at Lincoln Boulevard and the pavilions at David C. Douglas Sr. Memorial Park.

The public restroom facility at the end of Lincoln Boulevard in North Cape May has officially been opened by Lower Township Mayor Frank Sippel, Councilman Kevin Coombs, and the Department of Parks and Recreation. The facility will be open daily from 8 a.m. until dusk. The restroom facility is fully ADA compliant and is heated so that it can remain open longer into the season. As part of the current project, additional amenities such as an outdoor shower/foot shower and a water fountain are scheduled to be added soon.

Visitors to David C. Douglas Sr. Memorial Park, located on the north side of the Cape May canal, may have noticed construction on new pavilions in the park. The former wooden pavilions had fallen into disrepair. Lower Township had recently made reconstructing those pavilions, which are very popular spots along the water to visitors to the park, a priority. The contractor for the project, Walters Marine, has completed work on two of the pavilions and the shade structure on the third will be completed by the end of the fall this year.
