AVALON MANOR – Back in March, an Avalon Manor marina went before the Middle Township Planning Board with a proposal to construct a restaurant on the marina property as part of its transition from a largely commercial and storage business to one catering more to recreational use.

The plan for a 150-plus-seat restaurant and bar generated significant opposition from the Avalon Manor community. Parking became an issue with residents who feared it would spread to residential neighborhoods. Plans also called for a subdivision with 23 homes.
