WILDWOOD – Police Department officers joined several families from the community at the Cape May County Fifth Annual Shop With a Cop program earlier this month. The program pairs uniformed police officers from throughout the county with disadvantaged children and allows them to spend time together doing a little holiday shopping free of charge, thanks to the donations of sponsors.

The interaction promotes a positive police relationship for both the children and their families and in many cases forms a bond that lasts well beyond the few hours they spend together.

The Police Department worked with the program’s sponsor, O.C.E.A.N. Inc, its host, Walmart, and the Wildwood School District guidance counselors, who assisted in selecting this year’s children.

Wildwood officers and their families also joined other volunteers in handing out gifts donated to this year’s Lunch With Lynch Toy Drive, to help families in need in the community enjoy the Christmas season.
