To the Editor:
Those politicians who won the fight against Gov. Murphy and Orsted deserve a huge measure of thanks from all of us. Good going Jeff, Lenny, Mike Donohue and all the others who committed to the cause.
I would ask both political parties to know and report where their state and federal candidates stand on the wind farm issue. This is part of the “vigilance” we need going forward.
I am puzzled over where Gov. Murphy gained the legal standing to cut a business deal with Orsted in the first place. I thought it was against the New Jersey Constitution for a government entity to provide a “donative” service to a corporation.
I also thought that our beaches, seawater, ocean floors and airspace over the ocean somehow inherently belonged to us – we the people. I didn’t realize that it was just another commodity – available for sale or rent.
As our public tax dollars were given to Orsted, we should know how all this came to pass so history doesn’t repeat itself.
The Herald and Vince Conti – kudos to you both – you deserve Pulitzers!
