Route 52/Stainton Memorial Causeway is scheduled to have single-lane closures in both directions beginning today (Jan. 21) and continuing for the next several months, as a lighting rehabilitation project begins in Ocean City, Cape May County, and Somers Point, Atlantic County.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, and continuing daily Monday through Friday at the same time over the next several months, a single lane on Route 52/Stainton Memorial Causeway northbound and southbound is scheduled to be closed between milepost 0 to milepost 2.5. The lane closures are expected to begin on Route 52/Stainton Memorial Causeway southbound and move to Route 52/Stainton Memorial Causeway northbound as work progress. Additionally, closures are expected to start in the left lane and will move to the right lane. The closures are necessary to replace lights and lighting structures. At least one lane will be maintained on Route 52 in both directions. Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution, and expect delays while driving through the work zone.

This work is part of the $2.9 million state-funded Route 52 Causeway Accent Lighting Rehabilitation project, which will improve lighting and lighting infrastructure on the Route 52 Stainton Memorial Causeway between Ocean City, Cape May County, and Somers Point, Atlantic County. The project is expected to be completed in spring 2025.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website, www.511nj.org, for real-time travel information.
