Remembering 9/11

Remembering 9/11

By Herald Staff

Twenty-three years ago today two jets flew into the World Trade Center towers in New York, killing 2,996 people, 750 from New Jersey. We remember this day with a sense of deep loss for those who died suddenly, violently, in an unexpected attack on our nation. We remember too the first responders and other heroes who tried to save them. A steel beam, pictured, salvaged from the Trade Center, is planted in Avalon’s September 11 Memorial Plaza at 2001 Dune Drive. Ceremonies were held today in many Cape May County municipalities to mark the day.
