Two-Party Government

By Chris Marlowe, Cape May

To the Editor:
County and municipal workers I speak to while campaigning tell me they register as Republicans because they want to keep their jobs. Our county government seems to forget the advantages of a two-party system.
When just one party controls all of government, the temptation towards favoritism can be irresistible. If next year, the Board of Chosen Freeholders includes one or two persons who are “not part of the club,” new questions will be asked, more information will get in, and more information will get out.
I believe that better information results in better government for Cape May County. The only opportunity to introduce new faces this year is the Democratic candidacy of Danielle Davies and Greg Wall.
Please, consider the slate of candidates listed on their website at www.daviesandwallforfreeholder.com. Let this be the year that Cape May chooses to make government more transparent and flexible. Democracy works best when we all have a choice and feel we can make choices.
