To the Editor:
Regarding the self-parking tickets article in the June 28 edition of the Herald, my wife went to the theater in Stone Harbor but could not find a way to pay for parking, so after the movie she found a ticket that cost $34.
When I called the borough, I was told to download the app, but I do not have a “smart” phone, so I was told there is free parking at 94th Street and Second Avenue. My wife is handicapped and can’t walk that far, so I was told to either get an HP license plate, in which there would be no ticket issued, or call the parking company.
I did and apparently the borough employees never made that call. The company system referred me to their website. Went there, no help. So, we won’t enter Stone Harbor until after Oct. 1.
The ultimate irony? Had to go to Avalon to pay the ticket and discovered that…Avalon doesn’t charge for parking. Good thing there’s now a hardware store at the Acme shopping center.
