To the Editor:
Art Hall’s column March 23 ends with the notion we need to elect capable leaders. I couldn’t agree more. So let’s look at the choices being offered. Surely there’s something for everyone.
If you’d like a prickly guy to trash talk anyone who criticizes him, including other allies’ heads of state should he become our president, we have the man for you.
Not to be ‘Trumped,’ there’s another gent who claims to be the true conservative, whatever that means. Maybe he’s too far right for some, but if such a zealously-principled guy appeals to you, Ted Cruz is the one.
If you like an amiable, accomplished governor who likes to take campaigning’s high road, then John Kasich will welcome your vote.
Then there’s the lady candidate whose campaign banner reads “Fighting for You.” Exactly for whom she is fighting isn’t clear, but it may be for you if you give her your vote. Don’t be stymied by her track record of poor performance as secretary of state, or her past deceptions and untruths, or questionable Clinton Foundation dealings. Here’s a chance to elect the first female president. How could you turn that down?
Of course, if you have dreams of Utopia you could always ‘feel the Bern.’ Senator Sanders, that chatty Vermont curmudgeon, will gladly send you down the road to Utopia (and the country’s economic collapse) in exchange for your vote . Young voters seem to like Bernie’s socialist message. They might consider this thought: socialism is a form of government wherein everyone is equally poor except for those who run it.
What a list of choices. How to decide? I will vote for someone. But can’t we do better than this? Of course, a turbulent GOP convention might cough up someone interesting (doubtful) but we appear to be far enough into the process that the known “choices” are probably it. I guess I just have to figure out who’s the lesser of evils. Maybe the media will help. Nah! We sure need capable leadership after the past seven-plus years. Will we get it? Don’t hold your breath.
Wildwood Crest – Several of Donald Trump’s Cabinet picks have created quite a bit of controversy over the last few weeks. But surprisingly, his pick to become the next director of the FBI hasn’t experienced as much…
