To the Editor:
I’m fed up with the attacks on Planned Parenthood and the dehumanization of women in general. Physical life – fertilization of an egg resulting in an embryo of dividing, multiplying cells – is not the same thing as a developed, thinking, active human person. A person, man or woman, has a myriad of experiences, intentional and desired, accidental, and even unwanted and damaging. A person creates his or her soul during the journey we all have to take, through the good and the bad.
That is what a person is – what we each make of ourselves, good or bad, minute by minute, year by year. To take the right to make the most personal decisions away from a walking, thinking person is absolutely criminal. It isn’t Planned Parenthood that needs changes. It is the power-mad clerics, some of them millionaires, who profit from the hatred they stir up against women at their most vulnerable moments.
