To The Editor:
Just as I seize on every new issue of Rolling Stone looking for articles by investigative journalist, Matt Taibbi, every week, I grab a Herald at my post office and go directly to the opinion page, hoping for something by Jack Fichter.
It’s a tribute to the publisher and editor of the Herald, an otherwise right-wing paper, that such fine writing is available to us. Fichter’s article, “Thank a Liberal for Your Good Life,” should be required reading, not just in schools, but for everyone. His recent piece about smutty network TV is right on and should alarm all of us, especially parents and especially in view of our feckless FCC.
Tom Halligan’s letter in the Nov. 10 issue of the Herald deserved better than its snide headline- “Reader Reinterprets Publisher’s Column.” Halligan did not “reinterpret” anything. Any reasonable person reading Art Hall’s pre-election opinion would come to the same conclusion.
In this Christmas season, let’s recall what history has taught us…that only by working together can we create a life worth living. We’re all in this together, like it or not.
Thanks for the editorial balance in the Herald.
