Asks That ‘County Defund Planned Parenthood, Related Organizations’

Early this year an announcement appeared in the Herald that pregnancy counseling, along with other services, would be offered on Thursdays at the Social Services Complex in Rio Grande. An individual who visited the complex and raised the issue of abortion was told “We’re Planned Parenthood; we have nothing to do with abortions.”
Now, due to the complexities of the Planned Parenthood organization, and due to the requirements of Title X funding, it may be true that workers for the particular branch of Planned Parenthood this woman referred to do not necessarily perform abortions. They could, however, refer people to a place that does perform abortions.
But Planned Parenthood, of course, does have a great deal to do with abortions. They are directly involved in the performance of abortions. And, of course, evidence has recently been submitted to Congress that a Planned Parenthood representative was quite involved in pursuing the sale of body parts of aborted babies.
And it is at this point where we all must have a moment of honesty, of real truth, with ourselves. The reason this Planned Parenthood scandal has turned into such a debacle is because we know, in our hearts, that it is not simply an extension of the mother’s body that is aborted, it is a baby. We all, regardless of political affiliation or religious persuasion, know that it is a baby. That is why we find this particular manifestation of Planned Parenthood’s greed and corruption to be so revolting, because we know they are murdering for money. Perhaps we have grown accustomed to the reality and legality of abortion, but perhaps this new development will prove that we are not entirely calloused, that there is still something in us that is disgusted, disgusted enough to do something.
So I would like to suggest something very simple and practical. Let us ask that the government of Cape May County immediately defund Planned Parenthood and/or any organization that refers people to abortion clinics to have children eliminated, or arrange to have state or federal funds for the same cut off.
Let us not be like the German citizens who did nothing about the concentration camps in their midst. Let us do something. Please.
And let us not be fazed by the sophisticated language of “family planning.” Let’s call a spade a spade. “Final solution” in Germany meant extermination. “Family planning” in the United States includes abortion.
There is no unwanted child. Every child is worth defending.
