America is Drowning

By William Murphy, North Cape May

To the Editor:
America deserves what it gets for electing incapable leaders.
Number 1 – global warming. In a not too distant number of years, we’ll all be drowning.
The New York Times ran a full cover-to-cover magazine story Aug. 5 about just our planet. They cited some of our best scientists within the areas of CO2 and temperature change.
Number 2 – something more personal and at home is politics and economics. We started to lose our footing, if you will, after 1979.
Jimmy Carter was president and when he left office, our debt was not yet a trillion dollars. Now, it’s in excess of $20 trillion. Why? We elected incompetents one after the other, and Clinton was the only one who addressed the economic problem. He left office with a surplus.
Today, we have another unbelievable Republican who has placed our country in a non-tenable position, both economically and politically. Trump has run our position up about $2 trillion already; to say nothing of his having withdrawn us from the Paris Accords on warming.
He shafted our friends and pleased our enemies. Come November, it will turn and better yet, or else we can lose our country.
I don’t understand his decision-making.
Do people know that Putin’s economy is about equal to one of our states? And, it isn’t California.
They have nukes, we have more and Trump is afraid of them. Why?
