To the Editor:
While scanning Facebook I saw an article that someone put a hang noose near a black candidate for Congress’ political sign. Unfortunately, this did not shock me. You see, I was born in Cape May Court House, and I understand Cape May County.
There was of course the response from law enforcement that they would do all they can to bring this person to justice, which of course also did not shock me. And then they did catch this person. Not a shocker, since Cape May Courthouse is a small community and these people usually are caught.
And then they said there would be no charges filed. Also, not a shocker. But that was the end of it, and that is what shocked me. Because there were stories about this on CBS, CNN, NJ.com, Phillyvoice, the ACPress, NJ101.5, BET, Yahoo and of course in the Cape May County Herald. But law enforcement decided that was the end of it. They should be embarrassed, but they are not. And that does not shock me.
