Assemblyman Erik Simonsen gave me a call about some good news with NJ Transit. They will be adding two bus stops near the Cape May County Airport.
One stop will be inside the airport and the other will be on Breakwater Road. It is unsure if the 552 bus will be traveling through these designated locations. Unfortunately, two more bus stops will not be enough to solve these transportation expectations. Cape May County needs to have extensive bus roots as described on “Human Transportation plan” By South Jersey Transportation and Planning Organization.
The bus routes were planned to have a 553 bus going up Route 47-Vineland, a bus going through Route 50, and another going through Ocean City from the eastern coastal islands.
Something also needs to be done with the Seashore Lines as well similar to a River Line that runs through Camden to Trenton.
Lower Township Manager Jim Ridgway, mentioned, “It would be a good idea to have a bus running on Shunpike Road to Cape May.”
I’m theorizing that the bus that goes to the airport could go down that road. Every road that I mentioned is unsafe to walk, bicycle, and drive.
There have been a lot of vehicle accidents in the past and present.
The good news is that Simonsen got elected to state Assembly and that will allow these ideas to come into reality.
ED. NOTE: Simonsen is a former Lower Township mayor. His Assembly committee assignments include Community Development and Affairs, Education, and State and Local Government.
Cape May County – I’d like to suggest to the Herald that they leverage spout offs draw and replace some of the ads for their paper with a few paid ads that you probably can charge a little extra for. Lots of people…
