Sen. Lautenberg, Sen. Menendez, Where Are you? Are You Asleep? Are You deaf?

By Art Hall

From the Publisher
Sen. Lautenberg,
Sen. Menendez,
Where Are you?
Are You Asleep?
Are You deaf?
Do you have any idea how your constituents are suffering?
How could you? Do you ever spend any time among those who elected you down here? Do you not realize that we are in financial straits and have no money for a trillion-dollar health care system?
Please get the priorities straight. First and foremost, we need Washington (and Trenton, for that matter) to unshackle us so we can bring customers to our businesses. This will create jobs for people.
We need to get the economy back on track long before we can give thought to health-care reform of the magnitude of cost you are proposing.
We need jobs, houses, food and heat long before we need another massive government program.
Further, by supporting this massive deficit, you are inflating our currency, which will destroy our savings.
Don’t count on us to have the wherewithal to continue your personal government pensions if you bleed us dry.
How long will you persist in perpetuating the smoke of the illusion that you have gone to Washington on our behalf?
Contrary to the popular illusion in Washington, we are not paying your salary to govern us as princes.
Please do your job: represent us. After that, leave us alone to do ours.
