Has The National Democratic Party Taken A Wrong Turn?

I am reading a book which resurrects the question in me, has our national Democratic Party taken a wrong turn? As I read it, I feel the need to define who we are (Back to the book in a minute).
The national Democratic Party leadership appears to steadily be leading the party away from faith in God. This is perilous to both party and nation; let me explain.  Experience has shown us that political parties of other nations have taken this step with disastrous consequences; one, in particular, was the Soviet Union. In my readings, I recall that at least one historian recounted that the Soviets thought they could remove God from society and still retain respect for human life; they learned they were wrong.  Whether or not they actually thought they could, they certainly lost respect for human life.
In pursuit of their ideals and their goals, they even became willing to exterminate millions of people whom they viewed as standing in the way of progress. In the book entitled “Secondhand Times” by Nobel Prize-winning author, Svetlana Alexievich, I struggled through stomach-wrenching accounts of tortures and executions by devotees to the Soviet communist cause.
Some of these executioners viewed themselves as only carrying out the dirty work assigned to them by higher authorities within the party or the government; others were caught up in the maelstrom.  However, they did not do so without feeling emotionally affected.  The rare ones who enjoyed it were disliked by the rest.
So what does that have to do with America?  Isn’t it a stretch to think that we could ever become so immoral as to kill people who disagree with us?  Perhaps it is, but it worries me more than a little. As a young person, no one could have convinced me that in my country, we would one day kill millions of children still in the womb. 
Further, no one could have convinced me that not only would we kill them, but we would sell their parts for money.  One could hardly believe that medical people could be found who would perform such operations. Further yet, once this was exposed to the light of day, what type of an uproar did it cause within the American populace? Obviously not much because the Democratic candidate for president says she is 100 percent behind the agency which perpetrates these actions. Once our nation accepts such degradation, we have started down a slippery slope. Note, I am drawing a parallel to another nation with a Christian worldview core.
Has our national Democratic Party taken a wrong turn? Clearly, it has.   As an Independent, I ask, for those of you within our county who are Democrats and who share my concern, make your views known, and your voices heard to the Democratic leadership. Spare our nation the pain others like us have endured; not only will the Democratic Party be strengthened, but our great nation will benefit.
