Obligated to Protect Life

By Michael Beck, Villas

To the Editor:

It’s expensive to be pro-life these days. What was once found to be the norm, the support of the unborn child, has become “outdated/old-fashioned.” If you support life from conception, you are swimming upstream and certainly not in line with current thinking.

The polls on abortion support show that. Despite the overturn of Roe, the right to abortion is now considered a decided issue to many. But the fight to save the life of the child goes on. There will be a day when America looks back on the abortion-on-demand era with shame and horror.

The violence that now permeates our society, from our music to Hollywood to our streets, and even in our schools, has accompaniment in the violence found within the womb in the abortion mills. What about the rights of a woman to control her own body is justly countered by what about the rights of the child within the womb of that mother.

If you believe that life begins at conception, then you are obligated to protect that life, and frankly to speak out when that life within the womb is threatened. Sixty years ago that protection was a given. Abortion was nowhere near the issue it has become, but then we are “enlightened” now. We are so enlightened we’ve designated the child in the womb to be a “clump of cells.” Dehumanization at its ultimate.

Ronald Reagan had an awesome quote on abortion:
“I’ve noticed everyone who is for abortion has already been born.”

Exactly. Now, vote like life depends on your vote. It does.
