White-Out Conditions at 1 p.m., West Cape May Shelter Reopens

ERMA – Lower Township police officers on the road were reporting white-out conditions combined with high winds at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
There are sporadic reports of non-functioning traffic lights in the township along with a few downed power lines.
Lower Township and Cape May police will be ticketing drivers caught out in the storm during this emergency. Blizzard conditions were continuing at 1:45 p.m. The approaches to the Route 109 Bridge were reported as icy.
As of 1:45 p.m., the West Cape May Fire Hall was reopening as a shelter for those without heat.
Lower Township police officers were assisting a number of motorists that become stuck in snow.
At 4 p.m., the traffic light at Ocean Drive and Route 109 was out.
At 4:30 p.m., power lines were reported down on Jonathan Hoffman Boulevard along the Cape May Canal.
