State College, Pa. — AccuWeather.com reports with mild air surging across the Northeast the next several days, many people may be wondering if spring is here to stay. A shot of cold air next week will prove that winter will not let up easy.
Sunshine graced the Northeast on Tuesday after a few persistent days of cloudy, cool and wet weather. Highs in the 50s and 60s were experienced throughout the region.
Temperatures will continue to warm nicely today into the weekend as a ridge of high pressure builds overhead. Highs will rise into the 70s as far north as New York City on Friday and Saturday.
Cool temperatures each of the next few mornings will have you reaching for a jacket before heading to work or school. Any jacket definitely will not be needed in the afternoon.
Spring officially starts on Saturday at 1:32 p.m. EDT. That, however, does not mean an end to invading cold shots.
A cold front should sweep away the mild air early next week. Temperatures will not only turn noticeably colder, but gusty winds may further add to the chill.
It could also turn cold enough that snow showers return to the interior.
