Atlantic City Electric Crews Aid in Hurricane Irma Recovery Efforts

Atlantic City Electric to Perform Annual Testing for Energy Wise Rewards

By Press Release

MAYS LANDING – Atlantic City Electric has dispatched crews and support contractors to assist with restoring power in areas of the southeast U.S. damaged by Hurricane Irma.  More than 128 Atlantic City Electric employees and contractors have been sent south as part of mutual assistance networks coordinating recovery efforts. Atlantic City Electric joins with its Exelon sister utilities—BGE, ComEd, Delmarva Power, PECO and Pepco—in making available more than 1,800 utility employees and contractors to assist.
“Crews from utilities across the country supported our response to Hurricane Sandy, and other major storms, and we are glad to return the favor,” said Vince Maione, Atlantic City Electric region president.  “We are proud of our dedicated employees and contractors who are answering the call for help to support what is expected to be a monumental restoration effort.”
Atlantic City Electric has been tracking Hurricane Irma since it formed to ensure utility resources could be directed where and when they were needed.  Throughout Exelon, emergency preparedness teams work year-round to coordinate restoration efforts and share best practices to be ready for scenarios like Hurricane Irma.
Over the years, Atlantic City Electric has sent hundreds of crews and support personnel to assist utilities, in our region and across the country, as part of regional, mutual assistance networks. Just as Atlantic City Electric provides support, crews from across the U.S. have helped with restoration efforts in this region following severe storms. Atlantic City Electric greatly appreciates the dedication and skill of our employees and contractors who answer the call to assist others in times of need.  We are focused on their safety as they work to restore the energy services that are critical to customers’ daily lives.
