ATLANTIC CITY — NJ TRANSIT is inviting customers to interact with senior management and operations personnel during the latest “We Are Listening” forums along the Atlantic City Rail Line (ACRL) Aug. 20 and Aug. 21.
Forums will be held in Atlantic City and Lindenwold Aug. 20 and Philadelphia Aug. 21.
The Atlantic City session will be held at the Atlantic City Rail Terminal from 8 to 11:30 a.m.
In Lindenwold, the session will be held at the rail station from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The Philadelphia session will be held Aug. 21 from 3 to 6 p.m. at 30th Street Train Station.
NJ TRANSIT conducts the forums to give customers the opportunity to speak directly to NJ TRANSIT’s Executive Director Kevin Corbett, general managers of operations and senior level staff.
Customers are encouraged to stop with any questions they may have regarding alternate travel options and to offer feedback about their commuting experiences.

Van Drew Asks Director Corbett to Reconsider Shutting Down AC Line
Trenton – Sen. Jeff Van Drew (D-1st) sent a letter to NJ Transit Director Corbett to implore him to reconsider shutting down the Atlantic City Line.
The contents of that letter is below:
New Jersey residents have endured NJ Transit problems for more than a few years now, but in recent weeks, these issues have become more acute and are taking a toll on the state’s economy and its residents. I understand that NJ Transit is under a federal mandate to install positive train control by year’s end and that to accomplish that in the remaining months of this year is a heavy lift. That being said, I do not think completely shutting down the Atlantic City Line is in the best interest of the state and I ask that you reconsider your decision.
There are many people who depend upon the Atlantic City Line. People who live in South Jersey and commute to Philadelphia to work use this train line, as do people commuting out of Philadelphia to South Jersey. Veterans use this line to see their doctors at the VA hospitals in the Philadelphia area. The train line is also vital to the economic recovery and stability of Atlantic City. It is the most convenient way for people coming from Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland to visit the city and gamble in the casinos.
There are also many people who work in Atlantic City and use the line to commute to their places of employment. While ridership numbers on the Atlantic City Line are low compared to lines connecting New Jersey with New York City, the thousands of South Jersey riders who use the Atlantic City Line daily are real people, not statistics.
My constituents have been worried that the Atlantic City Line will remain closed for an indeterminate amount of time and perhaps not be reinstated. I have been assured this will not happen. Let me be clear: If this were to occur, it would be totally unacceptable.
I thank you for your efforts in responding to the critical transit issues facing our state, issues that existed long before your tenure began at NJ Transit. And I hope you reconsider a total shutdown of service on the Atlantic City Line. I welcome any questions you may have.
