By On Deck Staff

he Borough of Wildwood Crest’s annual Seafarers Celebration, a street festival that unofficially says goodbye to the summer season in the borough, is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 20. This year’s all-day event will feature numerous activities along the beautiful Wildwood Crest bay and beach fronts. The event will begin at 10 a.m. at Sunset Lake , located along New Jersey Avenue between Rambler and Miami roads. This daytime portion of the Seafarers Celebration will feature scores of arts and crafts vendors, an assortment of food vendors, various live musical acts, numerous family and children’s activities and much more. Family and children’s activities will include karaoke for the entire family, pony rides, face painting, moon bounce, a traveling riverboat show and more. Live musical acts will be scattered throughout the Sunset Lake area from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m. Once the daytime portion of the Seafarers Celebration ends at 6 p.m., the event will move to the beachfront side of town. Live music will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Gazebo-by-the-Sea at Rambler Road and Ocean Avenue . At 8:15 p.m., the Hegeman String Band, straight from the Mummers Parade in Philadelphia, will march north on the Wildwood Crest bike path from the Gazebo area to Fern Road Park to entertain the masses before a spectacular fireworks show lights up the skies above the Wildwood Crest beachfront at Fern Road at 9 p.m. (Note: the beach will be closed from Rosemary Road at the north end to Myrtle Road at the south end at least one hour prior to the fireworks display).
