PALERMO — Upper Township Committeeman Frank Conrad announced Feb. 20 his intention to run as a Republican candidate for the General Assembly Seat representing District 1 in the November 2009 general election.
Conrad was elected twice to township committee; first in 2005 then again in 2008.
“I am proud of the work I have accomplished at the local level. I have listened and incorporated many of the ideas from the residents of Upper Township as well as throughout the District to make a positive difference for the people that I represent,” Conrad said in a release. “I have maintained a fiscally conservative approach, which has allowed Upper Township to continue to operate without a local purpose tax. Generating new sources of revenue as well as increasing commercial rateables has offset municipal increases to individual taxpayers.”
Conrad, a husband and father of two children, said he believes in strong family values.
“As the owner of three Upper Township Businesses, I understand the needs of the small business owner in the State of New Jersey. During the past few years, regulations have negatively impacted small businesses, forcing many businesses to move out of state. As a NJ State Assemblyman I will make it a priority to make New Jersey a more business friendly State.”
“As a committeeman, I have helped maintain Upper Township’s rank as the #2 place to live in the State of New Jersey (NJ Monthly Magazine),” he said. “If elected to Assembly, I pledge to elevate the State of New Jersey’s status to a premier place to live and work in the Country.”
