COURT HOUSE — A poolside fundraiser at the home of Cape May County GOP Committeeman Anthony Anzelone showcased the unity and momentum building for the District 1 GOP ticket.
Both Congressman Frank Lobiondo and retired State Sen. James Cafiero made an appearance to express their support and solidarity with state, county and local Republican candidates.
Middle Township Republican candidate for Township Committee, Melanie Collins, was joined by Senate candidate Susan Adelizzi-Schmidt, Assembly candidates Kristine Gabor and Sam Fiocchi, as well as Freeholder candidates, Director Jerry Thornton and Marie Hayes.
Middle Township Mayor Dan Lockwood lauded the strength and diversity of the GOP Column Two ticket.
“Voters need to rethink the conventional wisdom that paints Republicans as the party of the old, white guys,” Lockwood quipped. “From Gov. Christie at the top of the ticket, to Melanie Collins here in Middle Township, the combination of experience, talent and diversity on this slate make it our strongest ticket ever.”
Supporters in attendance seemed to agree, as the Middle GOP raised the most funds in recent memory for a local candidate at one event, as well as strong monetary support for the other candidates in attendance. Collin’s Campaign Manager and Middle Township Deputy Mayor TIm Donohue called this support a validation of the GOP majority’s stewardship of Middle Township and Cape May County.
Melanie Collins was the last of the candidates to address the crowd and echoed Donohue’s sentiments.
“Change happens slowly in government,” Collins lamented. “But after just a year and a half in Town Hall, the new Republican majority is gaining the confidence of voters across the board, by keeping the promises our party has made to the taxpayers.
The record-breaking support seen here tonight makes it clear that voters support my candidacy for a unified consensus on Township Committee. Through that unity, we will accelerate our mission to bring transparent, right-sized government and fiscal responsibility to Middle Township.”
Ordered and paid for by committee to Elect Melanie Collins, Scott Bluth, treasurer, 21 Acorn Lane, CMCH, NJ 08210 465-9267
