Independent Voice

It’s time for the Sheriff’s Office to become more proactive in supporting our local police agencies and helping strengthen our communities. In these unpredictable times, we can no longer allow party politics to run the largest law enforcement agency in the County. We need a strong, independent Sheriff to keep our residents safer and our tourism economy secure.

Qualifications

Throughout my 25 years working in for the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office, I advanced through every rank in the Correctional Division before reaching the highest position of Warden. I am currently the Lower Township Emergency Management Coordinator. In this capacity I have planned and managed large-scale safety exercises, obtained grants and updated our Emergency Operations Plans. Besides my professional service, I have been an active member of my community for over 35 years. I am a life member of the Villas Volunteer Fire Company serving as a Lieutenant, Captain and Deputy Chief. I have also been a mentor to our youth volunteering as a sports coach, referee and umpire.

Personal

Beyond my professional accomplishments and community involvement, I am most proud of my commitment to my family. I have been married to my wife Margaret for 33 years. We have two sons, Rich Jr. and Bryan, along with three grandchildren. Besides their devotion to their families, both our sons have long term careers while also serving the Villas Volunteer Fire Company since they were 15 years old. By their hard work and training they have achieved the rank of Chief.

What to Expect

Over the next few months I will be reaching out to you to demonstrate why my experience and independence make me the best choice to be the next Sheriff of Cape May County. My campaign will focus on my preparedness, service and integrity and my unyielding commitment to the citizens of Cape May County. Please follow me on Facebook @Richardharronforsheriff. Thank you.
