A lot of singers sound just like that ‘someone else’ who made the recording famous. Put on XM radio’s Doo Wop Stop with Cool Bobby B or Cape May County’s WILW FM Oldies 94 with DJs Rick Rock, Bill Culp or Rudy Sheptock, and Philly Cuzz sounds just like…..uh… Philly Cuzz.
The singer/songwriter, who continues the Jersey shore music tradition from radio to Las Vegas concerts, will be back at the Lou Boothe Amphitheater in North Wildwood on Aug. 28. Catch the artist singing his neo Doo Wop hits, like “Forever In Love With You,” “One Summer Night,” “Down by the Ocean,” his top selling version of “On the Way to Cape May,” and more.
It’s been a great year for the Cuzz, whose Eagles Fight Song CD has made it to the counters of many regional Barnes & Noble and Border Book Stores, and whose Doo Wop albums are also in Wildwood’s Doo Wop Experience Museum.
Joining Philly Cuzz at the Lou Boothe theater will be the Jenny Ayres Dancers, in the Cuzz production number “We Are The Red Hat Society,” a funky new tune from the songwriter’s musical about Cape May County and the Jersey Devil.
You’ll also hear a few more selections from the musical “Philly Cuzz and The Pirates of Doo Wop Lagoon” that Thursday night.
So if you’re in the mood for some Doo Wop, beach music, zany impersonations of Jimmy Durante and wild women who will leave their hats on, check out Philly Cuzz. (Some call him the Italian Cozy Morley.)
