On June 6, Partisans Will Make Primary Decisions 6.2.2006

By Al Campbell

COURT HOUSE – Republican and Democratic primary elections will be held throughout the county on Tuesday, June 6.
Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Those who vote will be required to declare a party. Thus, they will be “confined legally to a choice of candidates for nomination within your own political party,” according to a sample ballot received June 1.
Voting machines will be “so adjusted as to comply with the law, and will not permit you to vote in the primary of more than one political party.”
On the Republican side, for U.S. Senator, a six-year term, John P. Ginty, “Republican for Conservative Leadership” is challenging Thomas H. Kean Jr., “Cape May County Regular Republican Organization.”
Unopposed are the following:
For House of Representatives, two year term, Frank A. LoBiondo.
For Board of Chosen Freeholder, three-year term, Leonard C. Desiderio.
In municipalities, selections will also be made for county committee and municipal offices, if applicable.
On the Democratic side, for U.S. Senator, a six-year term, James D. Kelly Jr., “End Corruption in the Government,” is challenging Robert Menendez “Cape May County Regular Democratic Organization.”
For House of Representatives, two-year term, Viola Thomas-Hughes, “Cape May County Regular Democratic Organization” is opposed by Henry David Marcus, “Change the Course.”
For Board of Chosen Freeholder, three-year term, Robert W. Hunter, “Cape May County Regular Democratic Organization.”
In municipalities, selections will also be made for county committee and municipal offices, if applicable.
