Ocean City hosts 99th Baby Parade

The Ocean City Baby Parade was founded in the early 1900s by Leo Bamberger and his committee.
Bamberger, a photo engraver, was one of the organizers of Labor Day. The Ocean City Baby Parade is the oldest in the country.
Registrations are now being taken for Ocean City’s 99th Annual Baby Parade, Thursday, Aug. 14. The colorful event begins at 10:15 a.m. Parade route is from Sixth to 12th Streets on the boardwalk.
The competition is open to children from infants to 10 years of age. Parents may register at the Music Pier Information Center, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace.
The center is open every day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Forms are also available at City Hall Annex, 901 Asbury Ave., open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Divisions are:
Fancy Decorated Go Carts, Strollers, Coaches, Express Wagons, etc.
Comic Decorated Go Carts, Strollers, Coaches, etc.
Small Children’s Floats, all vehicles including express wagons and baby carriages with tops or sides built on, measuring more than three by five feet
Commercial and Non-Commercial large floats.
Entry fee is $5 per child and $10 for commercial floats. All children receive a gift for being in the parade.
