COURT HOUSE: (3.8) The story on the Herald’s Web site March 7 that announced the winner of the Mega Millions lottery, based on contacts with local sources, was incorrect, according to state lottery officials.
Dominick DeMarco, spokesman for the New Jersey Lottery, said the announcement that a line cook at the Bellevue Tavern had won was not true, and that no winner has yet come forward to claim the prize.
DeMarco verified that the winning ticket was sold at Campark Liquors in Woodbine, where a press conference was held March 7, a video of which was posted on the Web site.
The person holding the winning ticket must go through a validation procedure, DeMarco said.
“Until that is all done to the satisfaction of the New Jersey Lottery, we have no winner. At this time I cannot confirm a winner,” he said.
