Neighborhood Watch Volunteers Sought

By Joe Hart

SEA ISLE CITY –– With so many homes unoccupied in the off-season, Town Watch/Town Pride is seeking volunteers to help form a neighborhood watch group. A meeting will be held tonight at 7:30 p.m., at the Community Lodge on JFK Boulevard, to explore the idea with interested citizens.
During the meeting, members will dialogue with Police Lt. Thomas D’Intino, who will review crime incidents and make suggestions for organizing a neighborhood watch. Watch teams would patrol streets day and night, said program leader Carl Lingesso.
The group estimates that it would need more than 30 volunteers. Lingesso emphasized that volunteers will be advised to call police if a crime is being perpetrated and should not attempt to intervene.
Anyone interested in volunteering who is unable to attend the meeting should contact Lingesso at 263-6982.
