Mr. Monopoly Visits Cape May County

COURT HOUSE – Mr. Monopoly, complete with his top hat and flashy cane, visited the Cape May County Zoo Oct. 20 to announce South Jersey Shore Monopoly. Mr. Monopoly also came to ask locals what landmarks they want to see on the upcoming board.
Mr. Monopoly and his team flew all the way from Dallas to get a feel for Cape May County. 
Brooke Gorman, partnership manager at Monopoly’s distribution company Top Trumps USA, said to the Herald that she needs locals’ help to “condense such a big area into 22 property squares.” 
Gorman has spent her week in towns across the county; she arrived nearly a week prior to the announcement at the Zoo and has visited Cape May, Wildwood, Stone Harbor, Avalon, Sea Isle City and Court House to talk to locals. 
“I’ve just been trying to talk to as many people as possible. People have been so deeply kind,” she said. Gorman said that nearly every aspect of the board can be customized with Cape May County theming except the corner spaces and the metal character pieces. 
Gorman and her team wandered the zoo with life-sized Monopoly game pieces; children and adults quickly recognized Mr. Monopoly and crowded around him for photos. 
The final locations and board design will not be finalized until June 2023. Gorman said that the final board will be announced via a “huge” party just before Independence Day.
