RIO GRANDE – Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled a husband and wife’s deaths accidental, according to a report on Shore News Today.
The bodies of John Clohessy, 53, and Carrie Clohessy, 41, were found in a wooded section of Rio Grande off Old Rio Grande Avenue July 8, 2015. It was determined both of them were homeless at the time of their deaths.
Both John and Carrie Clohessy died of fentanyl and temazepam intoxication, Paul Skill, chief of county detectives at the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office told Shore News Today.
Temazepam is classified as a benzodiazepine, and is typically used to treat insomnia.
Fentanyl is classified as an opioid, and is often used to treat severe pain.
According to the report, County authorities waited for about seven months to receive the final toxicology reports from the state. Without those reports, an official cause of death could not be released.
