WOODBINE – The Borough of Woodbine has signed a Shared Services Agreement with the County of Cape May for DeHirsch Avenue (County Route 550) improvements.
The County of Cape May is proceeding with a $1.8 million project in the Borough of Woodbine to improve North DeHirsch Avenue (CR 550) from Madison Avenue to just west of Scott Avenue.
At the same time, the Borough is proceeding with a $250,000 project to make resurfacing improvements to South DeHirsch Avenue from Washington Avenue to Madison Avenue.
The Borough’s improvement project is similar to the County’s improvement project. North DeHirsch is under the jurisdiction of the County and is maintained by the County while South DeHirsch is under the jurisdiction of the Borough and is maintained by the Borough.
This being the case, it is advantageous from a cost perspective, coordination of traffic control during the construction phase, and minimizing quality of life disruptions for adjacent property owners to combine these two projects, which jointly total approximately $2 million, as one jointly shared construction project.
“This is a project that the Borough has been coordinating with the County for quite some time. Hopefully, these will both go out to bid in early August with a start of construction for September,” added Mayor Pikolycky.
