By Jack Fichter

WEST CAPE MAY — Borough Commission at an Aug. 4 work session, discussed creating bid packets for two liquor license that will be offered for sale if commission passes an enabling ordinance at its Aug. 26 meeting.
Commissioner agreed on a minimum bid of $650,000 for a consumption license for a restaurant and $750,000 for a retail license for a liquor store. The licenses would not allow a stand-alone tavern.
Those bidding on the licenses would first need to apply to the state Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control. Applicants would also be required to provide certification from the state they did not have unpaid taxes.
Borough Solicitor Christine Cote said commission needed to approve a resolution authorizing the sale of the two licenses. Bid packages could be available in late September.
