DEL HAVEN – Middle Township Committee introduced an ordinance June 3 that would require almost 1,000 homes in Del Haven and some adjacent areas to connect to the Lower Township Municipal Utilities Authority (LTMUA) water distribution system when the system is placed in operation in about two years.
At an early meeting, LTMUA officials said that the connection fee would be $1,600. Homeowners could elect to pay that fee in quarterly installments of $80 over five years interest-free.
The mandatory connection is an aspect of the financial plan to bring fresh water to the Del Haven area where saltwater intrusion has impacted wells for many homeowners.
The public hearing on the ordinance is scheduled for the July 1 committee meeting at 6 p.m.
