CREST HAVEN – Someone’s New Year’s wish came true Jan. 22. Maybe that someone was late for a meeting, military muster or class and was stopped – seemingly forever – by the traffic signal at the Garden State Parkway and Crest Haven Road (Interchange 11).
Those delays will likely shorten in the wake of a resolution freeholders approved at their meeting to accept the light, its future maintenance and operation from the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.
The resolution noted the Jan. 3 meeting that took place between the county and authority. It also cited an Oct. 12, 2017 jurisdictional agreement between the two parties in which the authority “requested the county assume ownership and jurisdiction over the signals.”
Part of the delay, according to County Engineer Robert Church, was “additional hardware had to be installed.”
Even though the county will have ownership, changing the timing must still be approved by the Turnpike Authority, Church said.
“Good,” commented Vice Director Leonard Desiderio.
