WASHINGTON, – U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew (D-2nd) addressed the a letter to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administrator Seema Verma regarding the exploitation of seniors and Medicare recipients and abuse of the Medicare system.
According to a release, following a string of allegations on April 9 the chief executive officers, and chief operating officers, and others associated with five telemedicine companies, the owners of dozens of durable medical equipment companies, and three licensed medical professionals were charged with fraudulent activity.
“In addition to dealing with call spoofing and robocalls with acts like the Robocall Enforcement Enhancement Act, the American people require a larger scale approach. We must protect our seniors and I call on DHHS to immediately do what is right and make seniors aware of the threat, as well as do all they can to fix the issue,” stated Van Drew.
