PETERSBURG – Linda Bateman, president of the Strathmere Improvement Association, queried Upper Township Committee Oct. 22, “What is the situation with the yellow tape and spray paint marking a large hole, like a sinkhole, at the Strathmere playground? It looks dangerous, and I certainly would not let my grandchild play there nor do I think any other resident wants children to be there.”
In response, Business Administrator Scott Morgan, explained, “We were hoping the contractor would show up sooner rather than later to do corrective repair where piping meets the bulkhead, but meanwhile we have taken down the swings near where the sinkhole appears. The rest of the playground apparatus is still there, and there is no danger for children to use the playground.” Bateman asked the committee to inform her of those types of situations so she can post the information to Strathmere’s Facebook page, which she stated has 1,300 followers.
