PETERSBURG – Engineer Paul Dietrich informed Upper Township Committee members Nov. 25 that the county proposed several alternatives to re-align Stagecoach Road at St. Martins Place in Marmora.
“Surveys have been undertaken, and after review, we are recommending the option where a better right angle would be created at this intersection to allow for safer crossing in the area of the elementary school, and for the crossing guards to better protect our students. We expect the project will also allow for better sightlines and sight triangles that will also enhance pedestrian and traffic safety,” explained Dietrich.
Mayor Richard Palombo asked about the expected timeline for the project. Dietrich responded that “this could take several years, especially if federal funds are included and not just state funds. Once finished, we will make sure that there is adequate signage, so that there is no confusion with this change.”
