CAPE MAY – Cape May Lighthouse, located in Cape May Point State Park, and the World War II Lookout Tower (Fire Control Tower No. 23) on Sunset Boulevard near Cape May Point, reopened to the public July 4 after a three-day stalemate was finally broken between the legislature and Gov. Christie over the Fiscal Year 2018 New Jersey budget.
Normal operating hours resume for both of these attractions and historic sites today:
Cape May Lighthouse: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
World War II Tower: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts & Humanities (MAC), a not-for-profit organization committed to promoting the preservation, interpretation, and cultural enrichment of the Cape May region for its residents and visitors, manages, maintains and opens to the public the Cape May Lighthouse and the World War II Lookout Tower.
Over the three-day state government shutdown over this Independence Day holiday weekend, both sites were forced to close. MAC estimates losses to revenue of over $14,000 due to the forced closures.
