CREST HAVEN – Members of the Police Education Bureau of the Royal Thai Police, based in Bangkok, Thailand visited the Cape May County Police Academy Nov. 20 to learn about the simulator used to train officers.
Heading the delegation was Police Maj. Gen. Sornkrit Kaewpalek, deputy commissioner. With him was Witsarut Duangchinda, of Astra Technology. and Manote Duangchinda.
Kaewpalek got to try the police car simulator, a challenge driving on the right side of the road. He was welcomed to the academy by Freeholder Vice-Director Leonard Desiderio and Academy Director Thomas DePaul.
Middle Township Police Cpl. James Delanzo demonstrated how the simulator is used to train officers in making split decisions on use of force and weapons.
As he moved through a crime call, the Thai visitors watched him and how the computerized simulator helps hone an officer’s skills in such high-stress situations.
