Testa Warns of ‘Code Blue’ Freezing Weather

Sen. Michael Testa (R-1st)

By Press Release

TRENTON – Sen. Michael Testa (R-1st) cautioned residents that “Code Blue” freezing weather is predicted for South Jersey shore points and inland towns Jan. 7-9.
According to a release, a Code Blue is triggered when temperatures drop to 32 degrees with precipitation, or 25 degrees with no precipitation.
Cape MayAtlantic, and Cumberland counties have issued Code Blue warnings.
“It is a disaster waiting to happen when vulnerable individuals, especially the homeless, are exposed to brutal weather conditions,” stated Testa. “When the temperature drops below freezing, we want to ensure everyone has a warm, safe place to escape the cold and lay their heads at night. We don’t want people risking their lives, and urge them to take precautions and seek help when necessary.”
If anyone knows of someone who has issues with their heat or needs a place to stay warm during this severe cold, call 2-1-1 to help them find a warming center.”
Testa stated New Jersey residents in need of assistance can dial 2-1-1 to find emergency shelter in their community, and any resident facing a life-threatening emergency should call 9-1-1.
