Suit Alleges Inmate Shackled During Surgery

CREST HAVEN – A jail inmate filed a federal civil rights lawsuit in Camden against Cape May County Correctional Center and various officials Sept. 8, NJ.com reports.  
Benjamin J. Davis, 24, of Cherry Hill, claims he was shackled during emergency surgery and recovery despite his doctor’s objections, which he alleges led to complications that required a second surgery.   
Davis is seeking monetary damages and attorney’s fees from Cape May County, numerous corrections officers listed, as well as the jail’s warden and county sheriff.
