WILDWOOD CREST – Sunrise Park, a three-block-long beachfront park, between Lotus and Rambler roads in Wildwood Crest, will be renovated by using a grant from the county’s Open Space Board.
At the borough commissioners’ Dec. 27 meeting, Borough Administrator Constance Mahon announced that the plans have been revised to include more parking, in a lot along Beach Avenue, among other plan updates.
Sunrise Park features a gazebo and a small playground located next to a large grassy field. The additional parking being proposed would cut into the field space.
Plans also include an additional playground to accommodate an older age group, adding shade, creating an interactive, programmable water feature and adding exercise equipment to the park, according to Mahon.
Permits are pending, and Mahon is hopeful that they will soon be approved, allowing construction to begin in the spring, with a target completion date of early June 2020. The county grant will cover 75% of the overall project, according to Mahon.
