REAL ID Walk-Ins at MVC Resume March 5, 2020

REAL ID Walk-Ins at MVC Resume March 5

By Press Release

TRENTON – New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission Chief Administrator Sue Fulton reminded customers that March 5 was the first day in March for New Jersey customers whose licenses/IDs are expiring within three months to get a REAL ID without an appointment.

According to a release, qualifying customers can bring all their documents for REAL ID to participating Motor Vehicle agencies and get a REAL ID on a walk-in basis, but only from the 5th to the 20th each month.

Walk-ins this month are available starting March 5, and will run through March 20.

Fulton urged customers to check REALID.nj.gov before heading to an agency.

“There’s a user-friendly document selector at REALID.nj.gov that identifies what

you need to bring to get a REAL ID,” stated Fulton. “We tell everyone, even our own employees, to use the tools on the website before you come in so we don’t have to send you away without your REAL ID.’’

Customers whose licenses or IDs are not expiring within the next three months and are interested in obtaining a REAL ID should sign up for a REAL ID appointment at  REALID.nj.gov.

REAL ID is the federally mandated identification that puts in place stricter federal security standards for driver licenses and IDs.

Passengers will need a REAL ID to fly domestically in the U.S. as of Oct. 1, 2020; unless a valid U.S. passport or another federally approved form of identification is used.
