On May 22nd and 23rd 2010, the Ocean City Police Department K9 Unit competed in the United States Police Canine Association, Region 15, Police Dog 1 Trials. Region 15 is the second largest region for K9 Teams in the country and is comprised of the entire state of New Jersey.
The Ocean City Police Department K-9 Team (Ptl. John Vogt and K-9 “Deuce”) were extremely successful, scoring 657 out of a maximum 700 points. This score earned the team a Certificate of Certification as a nationally recognized team under the United States Police Canine Association Guidelines. In addition to achieving their certification, the K-9 team placed in the following categories:
First Place – Criminal Apprehension (Novice Division)
Second Place – Overall (Novice Division)
Third Place – Obedience (Novice Division)
The competition was held at Stockton College in Galloway Township and it was hosted by the Galloway Township Police Department. There were a total of 38 competing teams 13 of which were Novice level. The three trophies will be on display at the Police Department. Ptl. Vogt and K-9 “Deuce” want to thank everyone for all of your support and generous donations that keep the K-9 Unit in operation.
