WILDWOOD CREST ─ Fruition has come to the fate of the Nesbitt Center in the Borough of Wildwood Crest, according to Crest commissioners at their May 10 meeting.
After much discussion in past and special meetings, the decision to repair the center, instead of tearing it down, will find full revelation May 26 as the tourism hub will again open its doors as the season commences.
“It is wonderful,” said Commissioner Joyce Gould, who found a temporary location for the tourism office in the former library in 2016.
According to Gould, the center was a modular building installed in the mid-1950s. Suggestions have been made that another modular be installed in its place.
However, the center recently underwent extensive repairs and remodeling since the commissioners discussed the borough’s older buildings Oct. 16, 2016.
“Everything is brand new,” Gould said. “People won’t want to leave.” Gould thanked and acknowledged all who took part in the transformation. A new counter and other features are sure to cause interest and discussion, according to Gould.
Described as “absolutely magnificent,” the Nesbitt Center will open May 26 to greet the public as summer officially begins.
