OC Dredging Approved for Offseason

Dredge

By Herald Staff

OCEAN CITY – Dredging contracts for the back bay were recently approved, but not without some contention among city council members, The Press of Atlantic City reported.
The professional service contracts were award to ACT Engineers of Robbinsville, but council members Bob Barr and Tom Rotondi voted no, citing the lack of a bidding process, The Press reported.
Barr and Rotondi may prefer a bidding process, but it isn’t required by law for the engineering work.
The two contracts approved by resolution will give $330,000 for 2022 and 2023 work related to the dredging projects.
The city will plan to conduct the dredging in the upcoming offseason. Council member Terrence Crowley said the back bays are in bad shape and in serious need of the dredging as a safety measure, The Press reported.
